EUROPEAN REDWOOD

European Redwood is the most common type of pine used in this country. It is cheap and relatively easy to work with although it does have a tendency to go "banana" or split even when treated properly.  Suitable for all furniture making and general joinery use, it can also be used in painted furniture.  Pine usually has a high water content and this can cause problems in modern, centrally heated homes once the furniture begins to dry causing shakes and splits to occur.
